Frequency Table
Definition of Frequency Table
Frequency Table: A frequency table is a table that shows how often each value in a data set occurs.
What are Frequency Tables used for?
Frequency tables are used to display and quickly analyze the distribution of a set of data. Frequency tables display information in a tabular format that includes the specific values within the data set, as well as the number of times each value appears (frequency). Frequency tables are essential tools for understanding how often certain values occur in a given data set, as well as for summarizing the overall pattern of distributions.
For example, a frequency table can be used to show how many people were surveyed who answered a certain question with “Yes”, “No” or “Don’t Know”. The frequency table allows us to easily see how many people responded with each answer and identify which answer is most popular among those surveyed. Additionally, frequency tables can also be used to compare different sets of data, such as comparing responses between different age groups or genders.
Frequency tables can help make large amounts of data easier to understand. They provide an easy way to visually represent complex sets of data, making it easier to spot patterns and draw meaningful conclusions from them. Frequency tables are also commonly used in statistical analysis, allowing researchers to identify trends and determine relationships between variables.
